Story
Friends...
For those of you who know me, you will already be aware of my condition and maybe know a little bit about Myelofibrosis.
New Friends?
For those who don't, it is a rare blood disorder affecting only one in 500,000 people in the UK. Sufferers rely heavily on blood donors and the condition is usually terminal.
Myelofibrosis and Me
Being diagnosed with Myelofibrosis in October 2006 was a huge shock - especially as there is no standard cure available - but it gave me the kick I needed to do something positive with my life, to make every second count and make a real difference.
Why the Bike Ride?
I wanted to challenge myself, both physically and mentally, and decided to travel around the coast of Scotland. This is a new route for me and I know it's going to be tough, but - with your help - I'm sure it will be worthwhile.
When?
I'm starting the ride from Aberdeen on 31st May 2008.
Why CLAN?
In some circles, Myelofibrosis is thought to be a form of cancer and CLAN offer huge practical support to sufferers and their families during difficult times, and provide a great help to people on the road to recovery.
