My story
We are taking part in a 70 birthday swim and will be 4 of the 70 swimmers, swimming 70 lengths at Marshall Street Leisure Centre on Sunday 7 October.
We are raising money for the Early Intervention Dementia Advocacy Project. This will meet the needs of individuals recently diagnosed with Dementia or suffering with increased memory problems, currently living in Wiltshire.
This project will ensure client’s voices are heard, empower to maintain choice and control and ensure that the right support is available at the right time. The project aims to reduce the anxiety for the individual with the dementia and the stress to family members and carers whilst sustaining quality of life and decisions concerning their life.
By aiming to extend the time individuals are supported in their own and known environment, we believe this would decrease the need for long stay hospital or crisis management for people with dementia.
