On Sunday 23 May, I will be pounding 21km of Edinburgh pavement with thousands of other intrepid runners looking for a challenge and/or a chance to support a favourite cause. My inspiration during the weeks of preparation for the imminent Scottish Half Marathon has been twofold: an old friend and the young but thriving charity she heads up, namely HOPE.
HOPE and its dedicated team of volunteer staff work tirelessly to realize the goal of seeing people with autism and learning disabilities integrated into society so that they can lead fulfilling lives and live as independently as possible. During its own short life, HOPE has gone from strength to strength: in 2009 HOPE's flagship project, Perfect Pots presented a hanging basket to Number 10 and won the UK Social Enterprise in Schools Award.
Please help me to help HOPE.
