My story

                  The 2nd Wobbly Walk

The Antrim Glens & Causeway Coast

The second Wobbly Williams Walk will take place from 23 August - 29 August 2009.  This year's walk will start at Belfast and finish in Downings in County Donegal.

The first day, Sunday 23 August, will involve a short walk through the Lagan Valley and will finish with a celebratory BBQ at a rugby club in Belfast.  The hard walking starts on Monday 23rd at Glenariff and will run for five days, encompassing the Glens of Antrim and the Causeway Coast.  The walk will take in world famous landmarks such as Glenariff, Dunluce Castle, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, the Giants Causeway and Barry’s Amusement Park before desending into Portstewart on Friday 27th August.  On Saturday morning the walkers will transfer to Donegal and finish with a walk along Atlantic Drive ending up in the Harbour Bar in Downings for a few well earned pints of the black stuff.

Saturday 29 August will also see the start of WobbleAid, a fundraising music festival also to be held in the Harbour Bar and featuring rock bands and musicians from around Donegal.

Why am I doing this?  Well in September 2007, at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.  Parkinson's is widely perceived to be a disease of the elderly.  This is not true.  There are around 6000 people under 40 in the UK who have been diagnosed and are living with the condition.

The Walk has been arranged to raise awareness of Parkinson's and to raise funds for the Cure Parkinson's Trust.

Every £1000 raised will fund cutting edge research into Parkinson's for one week.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. The Cure Parkinson's Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Bryn
