We are the Woollyback Mountain Bike Club based in St Helens, Merseyside. For the last 5 years we have talked of doing an event to raise money for a local charity, so we came up with the idea of entering a Merida mountain bike marathon in the Lake District to raise money for Willowbrook Hospice.

The Merida marathons are one of the toughest events in mountain biking taking you over extreme terrain with distances upto 100km and we expect to be riding between 7 and 8 hours, even longer if the weather is bad.
