What's it all about? Well, on 28th September 2011, between 10am and 8pm, South Bucks RDA Group riders, volunteers and supporters are taking part in the RDA's Biggest Riding Lesson, simultaneously, with riders all over the world.
Some of us haven't been on a horse for more years than we'd care to admit to, and it's a lucky dip as to which Group Instructor we'll get for each session throughout the day. And, yes, Group Stable Manager and Paralympic Gold medal-winning dressage riders' Coach, Clive Milkins, will be taking at least one of the sessions. So, the day will be a challenge for all of us!
We're all taking part to raise money for something we know makes a real difference to people's lives: South Bucks RDA Group.
The group offers disabled children and young adults the opportunity to ride for therapy, recreation and education in a safe and secure environment. If you've ever spent any time at the centre in Fulmer, it's obvious that riding at the group means an awful lot to riders, and is immeasurably helpful to their confidence and self-esteem.
South Bucks also operates as a centre of excellence for disabled sport riding. Group riders have had numerous successes at every level, up to winning Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. Fact: every member, apart from one, of the current GB Paralympic Dressage squad has trained at the group at some stage in their riding career.
Unfortunately, keeping ponies and horses is a very expensive business and the group receives no Government funding. Please dig deep to sponsor us - every penny will go to a very worthy cause.
