We are Sarah, Leigh, Graham and Jon and we work as wardens for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at the Welney Wetland Centre. In celebration of World Wetlands month we have decided to walk the length of one of the UKs most important wetland sites - the Ouse Washes. The walk will cover all 22 miles of the Ouse Washes and we will each complete the walk during the month by Friday 29th February. Covering over 88 miles between us. World Wetlands Day, on 2nd February each year, celebrates the anniversary of the Convention of Wetlands signed in 1971. As a result of this, the Ouse Washes was recognised as an internationally important wetland for the thousands of migratory swans and ducks that visit each winter and rare breeding waders in the summer. The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust protects this incredible wetland and its wildlife at its site near Welney on the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk border. Help us ensure the future of wetlands such as the Ouse Washes by supporting the work of WWT in the UK and around the world and sponsor us as we attempt to walk the Washes! Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Wildfowl And Wetlands Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
