The Paris Dakar Rally has always fascinated me, over 30 years it has evolved into the world’s toughest endurance rally that tests to destruction the worlds very best riders and equipment.
I have entered the 2009 Heroes Legend event knowing that I did not have the required fitness, skill, support and a bike prepared for some of the worlds harshest terrain - Why? Because my friends and children pointed out if I wait until I’m ready, I’ll never be ready... Some things you just have to do!
The event will leave Paris on the 7th March 2009 and travel 6500km in total crossing 5 countries, France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal to finish at the Lac Rose in Dakar on the 21st March 2009 where the story of the Dakar rally has been written for 30 years.
This event and the months of training required have also given me the great opportunity to raise money for Solar Aid.
This is a great charity that is changing the lives of many with a simple solution that harnesses a resource that is free to us all – The sun.
