The Samaritans of Weston super Mare help to support our local community through Outreach Work. Recently we held a successful Open Day on 24 July and as well as informing the public of what we do this event celebrates the fact that as a charity we are available for those requiring emotional support 24 hours of each day, 7 days a week.
Our Branch has a Prison Team which regularly visits Shepton Mallet Prison to offer support to the inmates.
Sheana coordinates a team of listening volunteers at C.A.F.E (Cancer Aid For Everyone) which encourages a sense of well-being amongst people who are living with cancer, or are close to somebody who has cancer. C.A.F.E is an informal drop-in centre offering support in a warm and friendly atmosphere, in total confidence.
Kate is part of our Outreach
Team volunteering her support at For All Healthy Living Centre. Weston super
Mare Samaritans join the weekly drop-in meeting at the Centre. The group is
self-supporting and has regulars who find it helpful to share life experiences
and talk through problems and changes. There are always 2 Samaritans and a
worker for the Centre who listen to anyone who wants to talk.
Naomi regularly offers a listening ear at Somewhere to Go which is a drop-in accessible for those experiencing a variety of problems ranging from addiction to homelessness.
