Story
Last year the ladies of WS Training carried out the race for life 5k walk/run. Our resident fitness fanatic, Jeremy Clipstone, was very supportive of us but wanted to give the boys and girls of WS Training a challenge and a half to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice.
Jeremy has come up with the most physically challenging fundraiser we could never have dreamed of; to climb not 1, not 2 but 3 peaks in 24 hours!!!
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks, respectively, in , and , within 24 hours. The Peaks are:
- Snowdon ( - 1085m)
- Scafell Pike ( - 978m)
- Ben Nevis ( - 1344m)
11 of us agreed to accept the challenge, and we have started to train for it. We have now managed to arrange a mini bus and accommodation which is great, but still have to arrange our own equipment and clothing.
Our challenge starts on the 19th June at 11am when we have to spend 10 hours in a mini bus with each other (this will be a challenge in itself). Simon Castle has agreed to take on the difficult challenge of driving 11 anxious work colleagues to the youth hostel near the foot ofBen Nevis. We then have to haul ourselves out of bed at 4am in the morning to get to the foot ofBen Nevis for the start of our challenge at 5am. We hope to complete this climb in 5 hours and then drive toScafell Pike and then on to Snowdon to watch the sunrise.
