Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
Many months ago a casual conversation was had between a few police officers at Wandsworth Borough about cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats . A certain Sergeant Steve Willers picked it up and ran with it and here we are actually planning to cycle over 1000 miles in 12 days, beginning in May this year.
We have a team of 5 cyclists, all from Wandsworth Borough of The Metropolitan Police: PC Sam Williams (Beake) PS Steve Willers PS Mark McLeavery PC Bark Fuks and PC Suzie Rylatt. We also have a wonderful support driver in the form of PC Faye Shurley.
We are funding the trip ourselves in order to raise as much as is possible for the charity: Leonard Cheshire Disability exists to change attitudes to disability and to serve disabled people around the world. Their principal activity in the UK is the provision of services in support of disabled people in the widest context. These services include care homes, supported living, domiciliary support, day services, resource centres, rehabilitation, respite care, personal support and training and assistance for those looking for work.
For those of you who know Richard Dupoy and Tony Sandover, an example of one of the many services the charity provide is that they are currently caring for Carole Sandover at one of their residential homes in Copthorne. Carole was badly injured in a coach crash in South Africa in 1999 and still requires residential care and support which is provided by Leonard Cheshire Homes.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Leonard Cheshire Disability gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
The update is that we've done it!! 971.4 miles from end to end. but there is still time to sponsor us so keep the money coming in!
