A while ago I cycled 60 miles from London to Brighton wearing a pink tutu. I was so pleased with this accomplishment that I decided I would do the Tour de France.

Unfortunately, I didn't quite qualify for the real thing and so I'm just going to do it in my spare time, on the way to work and back and that kind of thing. Admittedly, there are no alps between Dalston and White City, but I figure if I just do the total distance it should be close enough. Le Tour is a very long race -- 3608km. To put it in perspective, this is approximately the distance from Medicine Hat to Kissimmee if you go via Moose Jaw.

I finished the total distance on November 2nd. Wha-hey! You've still got a day left to donate before this page vanishes though.

I'm hoping to raise at least 20p for every km of Le Tour. All the money raised goes to the British Red Cross, which is one of the most respected charities in the world. Amongst other fantastic work, they are providing support for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans (directly and via the American Red Cross).

For more on why I'm doing this, check out http://www.yandatime.com/archives/000382.html Latest updates on my progress will appear in http://www.yandatime.com/archives/cat_cycling.html And there's a lovely chart at http://www.yandatime.com/archives/000390.html Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
