About Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust
The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust works to conserve and protect the unique features of the Dales. It works with local communities to restore and protect traditional features of the landscape from native woodland, through wildlife habitats to traditional barns and drystone walls.
The charity also enhances the lives of those who live in or visit the Dales, with projects from village halls to disabled access to beauty spots.
Our history
The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust was established in 1997 to conserve and enhance the environment of the Dales.
Funded initially with a grant from the Millennium Commission, it delivered 340 projects throughout the National Park in the first four years, improving access by restoring river crossings and footpaths; repairing drystone walls and field barns, planting woods with native trees, protecting wildlife habitats, and enhancing villages and community buildings.
Since 2001 the Trust has continued it's work with it's ambitious Dales Living Landscape programme which aims to complete a further 390 projects to improve the experience of those who visit or live in the Dales.
