The Donald Woods Foundation aims to fight poverty in underdeveloped parts of South Africa, primarily through education, health and community-building programmes. Key partners in current programmes are: South Nottingham College's "Balls to Poverty" programme, Claygate Cricket Club's Feb 2008 Tour of the Eastern Cape and several government departments in Bisho, including the Depts of Education, Health, Social Development and Sport.

My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Here I was quietly looking forward to a peaceful long hot summer of watching England retake the Ashes (????) , ~~the Lions inevitable victory against the Springboks~~ and Messi and Iniesta finally joining Arsenal when against my better judgement I succumbed to Dillon's subtle persuasion (or moral blackmail?) and have agreed to take part in the British 10K London run (about 6 miles….) on 12^th July 2009. Whilst not quite a marathon it seems pretty close to me...

The good news is that I am running as part of a carefully selected elite team of 12 on behalf of the Donald Woods Foundation – an excellent charity dedicated to fighting poverty through education health, heritage and community building in some of the most underdeveloped communities in South Africa

To date the Donald Woods Foundation have built seven clinics for HIV, TB and Orphans and Vulnerable Children. For more info on the work they do please visit: http://www.donaldwoodsfoundation.org/
