April 2010

Since Jaunary the appeal has gathererd a real head of steam. The leaders have all been actively seeking out a wide varieity of ways to raise funds.

Some notable successes have been:

DDSSP Dance Show where priamry school childrn took part. We sold tickets to parents and made refreshments and raised £500.

Brooke and Nickorganised a fantastic 70th birthday night for her Grandad Eddie which ended up raising around £700.

We helped out at a boot fair at St edmunds bringing in £400.

Nick has had a fantastic month with a tag day at DGSB and St Richards and has raised about £1200.

We also helped out at Fowlmead for Sports relief and raised about £300.

We were alo very proud to be receiving £1400 from the Hugh & Montague Leney trust. which completed an application form and then a group of leaders attedned an interview and presetation. We were delighted to receive a letter from the trustees notifying us of the ward. This has not yet been added to the toal. We will receive it in June.

Finally, we now have 12 schools in the DDSSP who have linked up with the project and are 'sponsoring' a team out in Zambia. We have fundraisinf days planned with St Martins in Dover already rasinf £850 for us -which is amazing!

January 2010

A good start to the year with Lauren adding £425 to the pot and Pete and John organised a 'Wine & Wisdom' at Castle Community College which raised £511. We've also completed some funding applications and should receive a response in the middle of February. We've done really well so far but with about 6 months to go the project now needs to build up momentum.

Also in January St martins primary School have raised £350 for us. They would like to be a link school for one of the schools in Zambia. We also raised about £600 at the Dance Show.

Decmber 2009

There's been alot going on since our last update. So in November the challenge for the leaders was to either run the Deal 5 miler or provide refreshments! it was a terrible day with regard to the weather, torrential, rain, cold and windy but the leaders done a great job. Pete, John, Adam, Nathan, James, Brooke, Vikki and Jasmine ran the race, dragging a giant inflatable rugby ball around the course, while Haydn, Ruth, Lori, Holly and Luren did the refreshments. It was a great moring and we raised about £800 in total.

We also received a cheques from the Trustees of the Mayor of Dover's Goodwill Fund for £300

Also in November Holly and Vikki organised a Tab day at sandwich tech and raised £650

August

Congratulations goes to James, Haydn, Nathan and Holly among others who organised and run a superb event. As well as the bbq  there was also  apple bobbing, raffle tickets, lucky dip and tug o war.

Thanks to everyone for a great family fun day and raising a tremndous £470.07

Dover District School Sports Partnership & TRDT Tour to Zambia 2010

14 young Sports Leaders have been given an amazing, life changing opportunity to go to Zambia as part of a Tag Rugby development Programme. They will use their leadership skills to coach young children in primary schools how to play tag rugby and then help to run a festival.

The fourteen Leaders come from seven secondary schools in the Dover District School Sports Partnership and are:

Adam Asher, Josh Erskine, Matt Douglas, Jasmine Richards, Lori Jones, Brooke Linstrem, Ruth Henson, Michael Merritt, Haydn Annakie, Nathan Annakie, James Beresford, Nick Keen, Vikki Rabbatts and Holly Batts.

Tour leaders are Pete Norton, Trevor James, John Castle and Jo Knee.

It is a massive project that we have undertaken and it will require great effort from everyone involved. The leaders will be planning a number of fundraising events thoughut the year and on behalf of everyone thank you for supporting this project.
