Why your donation matters
With teachers earning as little as £15 a week, and a government allowance of just $1 per child per term, Zimbabwe's education system is crumbling. At present, children whose parents can afford to pay the $10 termly fee fall asleep as a result of malnutrition. Those that can’t afford it are shamefully chased away.
Supplying schools with much needed classroom equipment, such as books, tables and chairs drastically improves the quality and provision of education. But ZBF goes further. By training teachers in best agricultural practice, and providing schools with seeds, tools and materials, the schools have the opportunity to not only feed their students, but to create a sustainable income for themselves, too, reducing or removing completely the need to charge fees.
