Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After sitting at a computer for a couple of years without doing any exercise I thought it was about time that I got fit again!  I decided to start cycling in the evenings and my brother in law Phil said that he would come along and keep me company.

We started to really enjoy giving ourselves harder targets each week and I felt like I was getting a lot fitter and felt a great sense of achievement.  One day Phil mentioned that he would like to raise some money for Asthma Uk and found out that they organised charity bike rides.  The next thing I knew I had signed myself up to cycling nearly 200miles in 3 days from London to Paris!!

Although I don't suffer from Asthma myself, Phil's son Callum has the condition and has ended up in hospital on a number of occassions.  Over 5.4 million people in the UK have asthma so even if you don't suffer from the condition yourself, it is very likely that you know someone that does and have seen what a debilitating condition it can be, every 7 hours someone dies from an asthma attack in the UK.  It costs £12 for 1 hour of expert advice from an asthma nurse specialist on the Asthma UK Adviceline and this is one of the things I am hoping to raise money for.

We have convinced my husband Steve to do the challenge with us so there will be 3 of us cycling from London Bridge on the 30th July 2010, and we will end up at the Eiffel Tower on the 1st August (hopefully!!)  By the time of the challenge we will have been training for over 6 months, and I could really use your support in sponsoring me.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks for your support

Zoe

Update 10/2/2010

Well training is going quite well, we are cycling three evenings a week at the moment, but OMG it is cold!!!

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, it makes the effort of going out on these cold evenings worth it.  Phil has found a cycling jersey company to donate some cycling tops for us, so we are busy selling advertising/sponsorship on these at the moment which will hopefully help us reach our target for Asthma UK.

Please help me reach my target and donate now, any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks for your support

Update 22/4/2010

Training is going really well.  It has made such a difference now that the evenings are lighter and the weather is so fantastic at the moment.  My training partner has been away for a couple of weeks, but I have still managed to get out and I'm now cycling 20 miles three times a week.  Sponsorship is going slowly however, with obviously so many charity events taking place recently and the current economic climate as it is, it is hard to ask people for money, but I will continue to try and raise as much as I can for this most worthwhile charity.

Please help me if you can by sponsoring me now!

Many thanks for your support

Zoe

10th May 2010

On Saturday 8th May, we did a collection outside Tesco store in Newton Abbot in aid of Ashma Uk.  The collection went really well and means that we are getting ever closer to our target!  A big thankyou to everyone for their kind donations, it was really clear to see just how many people are affected by Asthma when you start talking to people.  Training is going really well and we are now cycling 30 miles 3 times a week, and a very scary thought is that the challenge is only 11 weeks away!!!

25th July 2010

We leave for London on Thursday so that we can be in Crystal Palace at 9am Friday 30th July.  Although we have been training hard 3-4 times a week for 6 months now, I'm getting a little anxious that I might not be ready!!!

Anyway this is just a quick update to say thanks to everyone who has sponsored so far, and a little reminder to anyone who would like to sponsor me that time is running out!!

I will probably be next updating this page when the challenge has been completed, so watch this space..................
