I have made this crazy decision to climb Mount Everest... to base camp,
well this time around anyway.
The charity that I have chosen to go with is Childreach International,
setup by 2 ex students from my University of East London (Uel) and are based on campus in an office at the Knowledge Dock (Enterprise building)
I will be taking photo documentation all along the way, and there are talks of the trip being filmed for a TV documentary so let's see.
I also plan to extend my stay in Nepal, Kathmandu to visit and photo document a charity called Comolongmo.com to raise its profile in the UK.
So a whole heap of things are planned. Firstly I need to raise the cash to leave - £2670 from lovely people like yourselves, and am planning to hold a charity fundraising event or two.
Then get my fitness up to scratch and my nerves of steel in place. In no time at all it will be 19th June 2009 and I will be leaving for this adventure, I would have just completed my degree at Uel, and I don't know a better way to celebrate, than being on part of the tallest mountain in the world! Maybe not so crazy after all!
About the actual trip!
Mount Everest is the roof of the world. Standing at 29,029ft it is the highest point on the planet and is well known to command some of the most amazing views possible to witness with the human eye. However you don't have to go to the top to appreciate the awesome majesty imposed by this fantastic mountain. Expedition Everest is a two week hike through some of the Himalayas’ most impressive valleys and ranges to the base camp of the world's largest mountain. The route passes through some of the Himalayas’ most stunning areas and offering some of the most phenomenal panoramic views of Everest.
