Yes it's true, on the 14th September I'll be running the Bristol half marathon dressed as Pinky :) And yes, the costume involves a full-body white lycra suit complete with pink hands, feet, ears and a tail... The half marathon itself just didn't seem tough enough. I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible for the League of Friends at Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre. As many of you will know, my family and I had to spend a lot of time there nearly a year ago when my sister Sophie was hit by a car and rushed to hospital with a badly broken leg and very severe head injuries. From the minute we arrived at the hospital the staff were truly incredible - the brain surgeons, anaesthetists, physios, speech therapists and particularly the nurses, who never left Sophie as she was brought out of a coma and patiently taught her how to breathe, speak and eventually sit up again. Sophie came out of hospital in January and has made an astonishing recovery mostly thanks to her willpower (she is beyond doubt the roughtiest toughtiest of Schnepps!) but also to the wonderful centre at Hurstwood Park. Ever since spending time there, I have been determined to give something back to say thankyou and so I'll be running the half marathon in support of the League of Friends at Hurstwook park. In addition to providing support for staff, patients and relatives, this charity has funded an enormous amount of specialist equipment and also the building of an extension to the intensive care unit. Thankyou so much for any support
