Story

As a school, we are completing a Sponsored Walk and as Year 10s, we have chosen to raise money for CAFOD’s Nepal Appeal. Following the devastating events in Nepal, we wanted to do as much as we could to help those affected by the Earthquakes. We understand that Nepal needs a great deal of money to help start the rebuilding of lives and we would like to help the people in Nepal as much as we can. We also wanted to choose a charity that was connected to our school community and we chose Nepal as our cleaners are all Nepalese and many of their families and friends in Nepal have had their lives devastated by the Earthquake and are struggling with basic necessities of life including food, water and shelter which are basic Human Rights.

Eight million people have been affected by this disaster and CAFOD are delivering aid to those who need it most.  This is a major humanitarian emergency, and many lives will be at risk unless aid quickly reaches those in need. As a Year group, we would like to try and help as many people as possible in Nepal.

CAFOD’s Church partners are on the front-line of the emergency response, providing immediate aid to tens of thousands of people. CAFOD’s specialist team on the ground is providing technical expertise around water, sanitation and hygiene management, as well as in the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

In Year 10, we are hoping to raise at least £320 per form to help this amazing cause. We would be grateful for any donations, big or small, to help us reach this target. To raise this money, we are doing an 8 mile Sponsored Walk in Fancy Dress, with a Fancy Dress theme of “Films and Film Stars”. We are also going to be carrying a jerry can filled with water on the walk to remind us of the problems the victims of the Earthquake are still facing today for even such basic things as getting water.

When you are donating, if you are donating for a specific person in the form, please tell us their name in your message. There are prizes and House Points available for the form who raises the most as well as the individual who raises the most.

Thank you for all your donations and your generosity in sponsoring us J
