Story
The Dads Rock team do great work supporting Dads across Edinburgh and promoting equality and diversity by encouraging the social inclusion of Dads in everyday life.
We have been going to Dads Rock for the last 3 years, and the Saturday playgroups have been a weekly highlight for me and the girls. Not to mention the zoo trips, the festival adventures, and visits from Santa that they have provided for free over the years.
To give something back to them and to help them continue to support Dads across Edinburgh I am running the Men's 10K on 5th November from the Royal Mile, down to Holyrood Park and finishing at Murrayfield Stadium. I have obviously paid the entrance fee etc, so everything raised goes to Dad's Rock.
Having benefited from all their work and feeling supported in being myself in being a Dad, I wrote the below for their #beingdadsrock campaign:
Being a Dad has made me better. It has taught me to be selfless, to try and be patient, that pretending can be fun, and that almost anything can be exciting if you can look through the eyes of a child.
We are doing our best to support our girls, to give them what they need, and to teach them about the world. I am so excited to see where they can go, to see them live their dreams without limits, and most importantly see them be happy.
I promise to them both to try to always read that "one more book", to make up "a story about a beaver" and to be there whenever or wherever they need me - because I am their Dad, we are their parents, and they definitely rock.
