Story

Well the 3anns ( Ann1, Dee and Ann2 ) made it to Finisterre and back and what a lovely adventure it was. We arrived in Santiago on Thursday the 7 May 2015 and it was lovely to see those rolling Galician hills again. We stayed at the Hospederia San Martin Pinario, an old monastery near the Cathedral. Off we went to the Pilgrims office to sort out our luggage transport and met 3 lovely men from the post office who, eventually, sorted it out for us.
Day 1 Friday was our first stage from Santiago to Negeira (22.7km), we woke to hear the rain beating against the window of our room but it had eased off by the time we set off. Had a lovely damp day walking through forests of eucalyptus and oak forests, lots of hills. Few stops for cafe con leche and lunch was giant sandwiches in a little cafe - the Galician people were so welcoming and friendly. Met a couple from Alaska who were walking the Camino for their 28 year old son who has MS, he had walked part of the way with them but had to go home. Made it to our Hostal in Negreira for about 4.30pm where we rested and had a pilgrims menu for the princely sum of 10€ (inclu. Drinks)! Carmen and her family run the place and they were so welcoming and hospitality was great.
Day 2  Saturday, Negreira to Vilasario (12.5km) After breakfast next morning we set off, today was a short walk but uphill all the way! no coffee stops on the way, we arrived at our Albergue in time for lunch. Great welcome and lovely food. Weather was better today and sunny after a cool start.
Day 3 - Vilasario to Olveiroa  (18.7km) very misty start but the sun soon came through and we had lovely walking weather, farmland more hills and forests, woodland streams, wild flowers and birdsong. Lots of birds including Falcon, yellowhammer, greenfinch, blackbirds, thrushes, chiffchaff and chaffinch.
Day 4 - Olveiroa to Cee (20.3km) another misty start then sunshine, we had a stretch of 12km of moors today with a couple of medieval churches and a picnic lunch. Walk down into Cee was very steep and very difficult so we were glad to get to our hotel and rest!
Day 5 - Cee to Finisterre (14km) walked along the seafront to Corcubion then up through woodland and caught our first glimpse of Finisterre lighthouse, relatively easy walk still lots of hills then down  the sea and finally along the 2km stretch of Langosteria beach. Got to our hotel at lunchtime and went to explore the town and had lovely lunch overlooking the fishing harbour.
Next morning we bought a picnic and walked the 3.5km to Cabo de Fiisterre ( end of the world) this is where the pilgrims burn their clothes. It did feel like the end of the world where we had our picnic on the rocks overlooking the sea! Finisterre is a busy fishing port with a daily fish auction which was very interesting. People all along the way were friendly and welcoming and the countryside was spectacular. We were glad to get to the end but also a little sad that it was over - roll on 2016!
Thanks to everyone for your donations. It's looking good for our goal of purchasing a hoist for the respite centre which means they will have an extra bed.
