Story

Anna and David are running the Eastbourne half marathon on Sunday 6th of March in memory of Anna’s childhood friend Molly Burdett.

Molly and Anna were very close friends having grown up together in Wimbledon. They attended the same schools and spent many happy hours together watching endless reality TV shows; eating pesto pasta and spending time in South Park Gardens. When Anna moved to Eastbourne in 2009 they remained close and added Eastbourne Pier to their activities.

Molly had just completed her second year at St Mary’s Twickenham studying to be a primary school teacher.

Normally fit and well Molly became very ill in May 2015. She was admitted to intensive care in St George’s Hospital and diagnosed with the rare blood disease Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. After a very brave fight and despite receiving fantastic care Molly very sadly passed away 6 weeks later.

We are raising money to support the St Georges Hospital charity providing extra funds for the dedicated GICU team. This charity is supported by Molly’s Family and nearly £30,000 has already been raised in her memory.

This is something neither of us have done before (or not in the last 30 years) so any donations however big or small will be greatly appreciated!
