As part of our 2 week voluenteering in Uganda in February 2014, a week will be dedicated to helping vunerable communities under the Community Based Training programme (CBT) which works closely with Uganaid and the Nile Vocational Institute (NVI) in Uganda. This year the community identified for our help is Nakimbanba in south Njeru; the community has 150 households with 540 individuals.
We have been given a total of 7 vunerable individuals and families to help build homes and outdoor lavatories for and have chosen 1 particular family to focus on.
Sarifu Ssewaya is 36 years old and HIV/AIDS positive. He lives in his house (pictured) with his 4 children and was left by his wife due to his health condition. He struggles to support his family, 2 of which now go to the local primary school. His current living conditions mean that in the eventual passing of Sarifu, his family he will leave behind will not be able to support themselves and fail to grow up propperly.
However, if we can raise just £300 we can buy and build a new house for Sarifu and his family and ensure that his children will be cared for by the community after he is gone. It only costs £530 to build a local house, but it can make a massive change to a persons life.
So please, anything, even if it is just £1, will make the most incredible difference to a persons life. Dig deep and we will too!
