Story

Back in the autumn of 2013, having been asked by a third party who shall remain nameless(!) to buddy a friend of hers in The Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon – one of Scotland’s toughest one day events!- we now face the following gruelling challenge on 12 July!:

Swim 0.8 mile across Loch Tay, walk/run approx 15 miles over 7 munros (including the UK’s 10th highest mountain), kayak 7 miles, and cycle 34 miles around Loch Tay ... all in one day!  (I still cannot conceive it all happening in ONE day!)  So...

Anita  (just turned 40 & a keen swimmer, water sports person & a mere Vet Triathlete - just) and myself (about to be 64, reputed to be the oldest competitor, and a steady, but not fast, Vintage Triathlete ) are known as the Double A's & hope to be "Ever Ready" like the batteries! Both hail from the Tay Valley near Grandtully and are in deep training - over the actual route to be followed on 12 July! Watch this space!

We have had some serious training to do and will be pushing ourselves to the limit, so please dig deep and sponsor our pain – every penny will count.  Dear friends - Emma & Dave - organised an appropriately named Mad Hatters' Tea Party just over a week ago and the total from that and other donations has now topped £1000 - already 100 over our target!

But it musn't stop there... as the aim of the event is to raise as much money as possible for the Artemis Charitable Foundation who will distribute funds to the two nominated charity beneficiaries: Mercy Corps and Mary's Meals. Mercy Corps, an international development charity working in over 41 countries worldwide helping people to turn the crises of natural disaster, poverty and conflict into opportunities for progress. Mary's Meals, an international movement that sets up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
