Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In August 2014 Andy had to break his well known lifetime commitment of working 7 days a week due to a bad back he just couldn't shake off. During his very rare sick leave he was rushed to hospital in the middle of the night with a bladder infection where doctors found his blood tests to be somewhat disturbing and diagnosed him with anemia. After further tests and numerous hospital trips dad was also checked for a lump on his leg that appeared to be getting bigger. Eventually mum and dad received the news that his bad back was due to a cancer called multiple myeloma and the lump on his leg was a cancer called sarcoma. After a torrid time in hospital over the next few months dad was forced to have a dis-articulation of the hip after treatment on his leg failed which left him wheelchair bound with the fight against myeloma still ahead of him. On his completion of a six week Chemo and Radiotherapy course dad was admitted with what was thought to be pneumonia but after scans and numerous tests was found to be the return of sarcoma. On the 23rd of March 2015 we were given the news that his illness was terminal and with further treatment his life expectancy was reduced to a year but on the 26th of March 2015 he lost his battle against the sarcoma and he passed away in hospital. We are overwhelmed with the sheer number of friends that dad has made in his life and thank you all for your support
