Story

I am a big fan of helping others and of charity (whether that be donating directly or fund-raising) and this year is my biggest mission yet! I’ve decided to tackle the Trek to Machu Picchu in aid of Unseen - a charity committed to working towards a world without slavery.

Currently around the world there are more than 40 million people being isolated, restricted, and deprived due to forced labour, exploitation, and domestic servitude, making modern slavery and human trafficking one of the top 5 biggest illegal industries in the world. A major barrier in helping a larger number of people, or prosecuting the exploiters is a lack of funding, so I’m proud to say I am taking on the challenge and raising money by trekking from Cuzco to Machu Picchu in Peru! This is a 10-day expedition filled with peaks of up to 4650m to be conquered, and valleys to explore before joining the Inca Trail on the tail end of the journey from Llactapata.

The adventure will challenge my strength and stamina, and I am excited to tackle it head-on as well as the training and fundraising beforehand. Now, more than ever, it is incredibly difficult for victims to come forward and for the signs of such abuse to be recognised, which is why it is so important to support Unseen and their ambitions.

Any donation is warmly received and greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Abbie 🧡
