Story

Now in its second year we are delighted to launch Abi’s Butterfly Breeze 2021.  Abi’s Butterfly Breeze is a virtual walk/run between 2 butterfly centres in Ireland in recognition of Abi’s love of Butterflies taking place between the 6th to 12th September.

In September 2018, Abi lost her battle with mental health.  Her family were determined to raise awareness and encourage others to seek support in Abi’s memory and so launched the first Abi’s Butterfly Breeze in 2020.

The event asks participants to aim to cover the 103 miles representing the distance from Seaforde Tropical Butterfly House to Tropical World at Alcorns in Letterkenny.  You can take part individually or as part of a team to complete the distance and it can even be completed over the course of the week.

The event will take place across the second week in September, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day (10th September).  Sign up today and take part in your own local area but receive an Abi’s Butterfly Breeze t-shirt so you can show your support to Abi’s family on social media.

We are asking all participants who sign up to commit to a minimum fundraising target of £30 for the event. This is to include your entry fee of £10 and a £20 donation to Inspire to support the Bright Futures project.

Bright Futures is an Inspire led independent and confidential professional counselling service which supports young people aged 14-24 and their families who are referred through their GP practice.

The launch of Bright Futures in 2021 has only been possible following the success of the first Abi’s Butterfly Breeze and we are excited to support the future of this scheme.
