Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, together we have reached the target. It's been tough, but knowing you've got my back has helped immensely. Thank you.
Not long now, and the latest forecast is for strong headwinds and lots of rain! Better change the setup of the bike to suit.....August 22nd. 10AM. Newcastle.,
The finish line in London is just over 300 miles away, and I have to be there by this time tomorrow.
I've trained hard for this. My bike has been tweaked to the nth degree.
Still, it's a daunting task that lies ahead of me.
Riding out past the Angel of the North, down through the rolling Yorkshire countryside, settling into a steady rhythm now the legs are warmed up.
When the light fades (around about the 220 mile mark) one thing that will motivate me to keep the pedals turning is the knowledge that, with your help I am raising money for Macmillan.
When the sun rises on the next day, I will be nearly there.
We all know what a great job Macmillan does, and most of us know someone affected by cancer. It is estimated that 1 in 3 people will develop cancer at some point in their lives. To put that into some kind of perspective, I have 178 friends on Facebook. Statistically speaking, 59 of those people will develop cancer. That is a scary thought.
Macmillan provide many types of services, from emotional support, to financial assistance and beyond. They are the nurses, the healthcare professionals, the fundraisers. And us.
WE ARE MACMILLAN.
