Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 23rd June 2016, I will be trekking up the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a bid to raise money for Sport 4 Life UK. This phenomenal charity transforms the lives of the most disadvantaged young people in Birmingham through the power of sport. I truly believe in this charity because of its inspiring efforts to help bring out the best in young people.
Many of the young people that Sport 4 Life UK help, are individuals who have faced a constant uphill battle, throughout their lives. With a lack of role models and aspirations as well as disillusionment with life, many of these young people live in a world that severely lacks hope. It is this simple yet effective emotion that many of us take for granted. Nobody deserves to be deprived of their ambition and drive, especially during their youth. Sport 4 Life recognises this and strives to make positive change in every young person they work with.
And so, I will be embarking on my very own literal uphill struggle in order to raise funds for this fantastic charity. My perilous journey will be packed with various trials and tribulations - from the prospect of scaling 3 peaks, to covering over 24 miles on foot and reaching over 5,200ft in ascent, all in under 12 hours on one triumphant day. Accompanying me on this noble quest, are other equally passionate members of the University of Warwick Badminton Club.
As an individual, who has long struggled with performing effectively in sports and physical exercises, I can empathise with the work the charity does. After coming to university and finally finding a sport I enjoy, I discovered I could actually do things, I never thought I could do. Badminton as a sport helped me discover potential that I would not have otherwise found. It is this experience that has fostered my interest and admiration of the wonderful work that Sport 4 Life UK does.
If you would like to support me on my fundraising endeavours, I would be very appreciative of your donations. Of course, give what you can, as the age old saying goes, a little goes a long way. Thank you once again for taking the time to read my story.
Let's hope I don't peak too early!
