Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
I was recently asked to join an epic 9 day cycle (averaging 100 hilly miles per day, including one noted day of 116 miles!) for a fantastic small charity called Kicking Off (www.kickingoff.org) who aim to get essential healthcare, via the medium of sport, to incredibly disadvantaged children in Ghana and Greece.
That probably sounds a mad idea when you consider I have spent years doing minimal exercise, over indulging, box-set bingeing and passing the magic 50 milestone. What makes it even worse is that the 9 day option is the one only really experienced cyclists go for...You can see why I had no choice but to accept!
This is a serious physical challenge and way beyond anything I have ever undertaken before. My training has begun, but with just over 50 days to go to the start I have a huge uphill challenge ahead...However it will all be worth it because we are hoping to raise lots of money to go towards some of Kicking Off’s long term development projects which include the renovation of an almost derelict medical centre in Ghana which serves thousands of local villagers and building a much needed school in an area where there is currently no educational opportunities. These projects will have an incredible impact on the local community and have to be worth the real discomfort I am about to face!
Thank you all in advance for your generosity!!
