Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A friend is a Trustee of this small charity which I’ve learnt about, and a man called Roger, that delivers huge impact and saves lives.

Imagine you or your child is very sick, and you live in the most remote and most impoverished part of the world. There is no doctor you can reach and the health worker in the next village doesn't know what is wrong with you. You will die without treatment. Millions of people live this reality every day.

Thanks to the work of the Swinfen Trust, that health worker can send in pictures and the patient's story to the charity via an app. They link them with one of a team of 700 volunteer medical specialists to get a diagnosis, treatment plan and save lives.

You'd imaging a team of hundreds at Swinfen, delivering this fantastic, free service that connects doctors in times of need, but it is mainly a man called Roger and his wife.

Roger has cancer.

Roger started the charity with his wife in 1998 and they work tirelessly to answer these calls for help.

Despite currently going through treatment and everything else cancer throws at you, Roger and his wife continue to help more than 20 people every month get life-saving access to care.

We need to support Roger, his wife and the Swinfen Trust as much as we can right now, so I'm asking for your help.

Bella, his daughter, is also a trustee and has shaved her head to raise funds for her Father's charity.

Please give whatever you can.

About the charity

Started in 1998 with the aim of assisting poor, sick and disabled people in the developing world, the SCT establishes telemedicine links between hospitals in the developing world and medical specialists worldwide, who generously give their advice on diagnosis and recommend treatment free of charge.
