Story
Hello I am Alana, I am 12, and I want to change the world. I have looked up to many people in my life, but one person in particular is Malala Yousafzai. She was 11 when she started to change the world. Her school had chosen her to write what it was like to live under extremist rule, for BBC. She had to publish her diary under a fake name so no one would hurt her, but one day a terrorist found out he real identity, and they shot her in the head. No one expected her to survive and if she did the doctors said she would not be able to walk, speak or read. But amazingly she proved them wrong. When she was 17 she won the Nobel peace prize and she is the youngest person to ever receive it. Now Malala still stands up for what is right. She changed the world like I want to one day. My cousin has mitochondria disease and he faces many struggles each day. Someone in my school has cerebral palsy and she too faces many challenges. Also my grandpa has had cancer many times, it is scary for me so I can't even imagine if I was in his, my cousins or my friend's place. I would not know what to do, so I want to help these kids with health issues like these and many more. I want to donate to Children's hospital of Michigan. My mom used to work there and it is a great place. I love the building and how they try to make it bright and colorful for the children, so they are happy. My goal is to raise $1,500 to donate to the hospital to use directly for the patients.
