Story
I fell in love with cycling at a young age and used to be fascinated by my dad’s stories of his cycling adventures. I thank him for instilling in us, our love for adventure and the outdoors. Although I have cycled in bits over the years, the Prudential Ride London 100 miles, is by far, the toughest challenge I have taken on.
The motivation to cycle 9-10 hours at a steady pace, comes from Mission Zero Hunger. As a chef, I am passionate about fighting food poverty and food waste. I am very honoured to be Chef Ambassador for Akshaya Patra in the UK. Their inspiring work in India helps educate children from vulnerable communities whilst providing them with nutritious meals. Their food manufacturing and distribution process uses kaizen technology to maximise the impact of every donation made. Akshaya Patra's incredible work at the grassroots level has deservedly made them a Harvard case study. In the UK, their production kitchen serves healthy, vegetarian, freshly-cooked meals to the homeless, seniors and debt-ridden University students, all facing food insecurity.
This summer, we hope to serve a large number of school students affected by holiday hunger. The statistics on food poverty in the UK is truly shocking and sadly very much under the radar.
