Story
A few weeks ago I thought it would be a good idea to sign up to my first half marathon, having never run further than 10km before!
On Sunday 26th February 2023 I am running the Brighton Half Marathon and would like to raise awareness of lipoedema and a bit of money for Talk Lipoedema.
Lipoedema is a condition of the fat and connective tissue which can be painful and affect daily life. It is not commonly known about and there are little treatment options available funded by the NHS.
One of my good friends Pippa was diagnosed with lipoedema at the end of university. The treatment she required was not funded by the NHS but would prevent her from becoming wheelchair bound at the young age of 25.
The support that Pippa has received from the charities and networks has allowed her to receive the right treatment for her and has changed her life. Raising awareness of the condition to both people in the medical profession and the general public can make a lot of difference.
Talk Lipoedema is a charity that provides 24/7 support across the UK for people living with lipoedema through social media, resources and running educational events.
Please consider making a donation to the charity if you can. I appreciate all the support and motivational messages.
