As many of you may know, in January 2015, a whole month into our married life, my wife Emily was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been unbelievably awesome and inspirational throughout this whole process. I, on the other hand, wrote a comedy show about it for the Edinburgh Festival.

In March last year I ran the Silverstone half-marathon which many people generously supported. I was also able to raise money through a benefit on the way to Edinburgh and donated a percentage of my show's ticket sales to Breast Cancer Now. But I would like to do more and I would very much like you to help.

Literally as I write this, my beautiful wife, whose hair is growing back much better than mine ever will, is having a double mastectomy and reconstruction. I know she will meet this with the same incredible attitude that she has displayed throughout this whole horrible process. I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy, but what it has shown me is what an amazing woman I was lucky enough to marry, and for that I suppose I must be grateful, if not exactly thankful.

Many of you have been incredibly generous in the past and I am sorry to have to ask again, but I'm not putting my hip/knee/respiratory system through this for the fun of it. Hopefully, many of you are new sponsors, to whom I would like to offer a very warm welcome whilst I plunder your wallets. Please give as much as you can, every penny is hugely appreciated, and will go towards making sure breast cancer survival rates continue to improve and other people are able to find out how truly wonderful their loved ones are in a slightly more conventional manner.
