Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are supporting the Dr Hadwen Trust, who are the UK’s leading non-animal medical research charity. Promoting and funding the development of techniques and procedures to replace the use of animals in biomedical research.

Dr Hadwen are working with Brain Tumour Research to beat the blood-brain barrier. The blood-brain barrier stops most standard cancer drugs from treating brain tumours. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet brain tumour research receives just 1% of the national spend on cancer research.

They are challenging people to raise £1,000 or however much they can over the year. In order to achieve this me and Andrea have a number of challenges to complete throughout the year and into the beginning of next year.

Firstly we intend to walk the Warwickshire Ring, this is 103 miles of canal incorporating around 100 locks. We will be completing this challenge over 5 Sundays - 24th April, 22nd May, 19th June, 17th July and 21st August. Anyone is welcome to join us for this challenge, just ask for the details!

Our second challenge is The Grand Bank Holiday Run, this is a virtual race in aid of the DHT Grand Challenge of at least 5k to take place over the bank holiday weekend 28th - 30th May. Distance yet to be decided, but will be happening in Cornwall!

The third challenge is to do the Yorkshire 3 peaks within one day, this will take place on 15th October so it will be cold up there! We will need lots of donations to get us through this one...

The final challenge is to walk the Isle of Man coastal path, a 95 mile walk around the island to be completed within a week. This is scheduled for April 2017.
