Story
I will be using this page to raise funds for THE SURVIVORS TRUST.
This is something the really hits close to home for me and I hope you can take the time to have a read through some of the below statistics and support me in any way you can whether that may be a donation or a share on social media.
This charity provides specialist support for the impact of rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse throughout the UK and Ireland. Providing a range of direct services to survivors including counselling, support, helplines and advocacy services for women, men and children.
The CSEW (Crime Survey for England & Wales) estimated that 20% of women and 4% of men have experienced some type of sexual assault since the age of 16, equivalent to an estimated 3.4 million female victims and 631,000 male victims. The CSEW also showed that around 5 in 6 victims (83%) did not report their experiences to the police.
Regardless of whether these attacks are reported, charities like TST are so crucial in providing that extra support, whether that may be counselling or a casual chat. The Survivors Trust is determined to ensure that all survivors have access to appropriate counselling, support and advice so that they can reclaim their lives and obtain the justice they deserve.
In the lead up to my trek I will keep everyone up to date with my training and post regular updates from the charity to show how your donations are benefiting!
