Story
Spring semester at the Anderson School for Homely Children is done and dusted! Janne '20 and Heidi '20 rose to the challenge of our unique situation, averaging five hours of daily academic rigor and doing so with great determination and humor. Never have Principal Anderson and Lunch Lady Bjork-Anderson been so proud!
To honor their tremendous accomplishment, we ask that you support a proposal coordinated by Principal Anderson in partnership with Books in Homes USA and Hanlon Elementary School staff, with partial funding from the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. The goal is to provide every incoming 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader at our girls' school with 7 books over the summer. With a strange spring semester and the inevitable summer slide, there has never been a better time than now to put books where they belong: in the hands of kids!
The Community Foundation committed $1,000. The Anderson School for Homely Children is matching $1,000. PLEASE GIVE THE FINAL $1,000 TO LIFT THIS PILOT PROGRAM OFF THE GROUND! Your considerate gift is tax-deductible, and any extra will be reserved for future years (goal to expand to other grades). Please support Janne '20 and Heidi '20, and the adaptability and resiliency of the next generation. If our girls are any indication, the future is bright. Thank you!
