Merlin’s Magic Wand is a children’s charity that supports children facing the challenge of serious illness, disability or adversity.

The Charity makes FUN accessible to children with three magic spells:

Magic Days Out - providing tickets and funding travel grants to families to enable them to enjoy their day at a Merlin Entertainments’ attraction.

Merlin’s Magic on Tour - working with local communities at hospitals and hospices to bring the magic to the children wherever they are.

Merlin’s Magic Spaces - designing and creating amazing projects in hospitals, orphanages, learning centres and more all around the world.

Merlin’s Magic Wand believes that every child deserves to laugh, enjoy and cherish memorable experiences and it’s the charity’s mission to enable them to access the magic of Merlin Entertainments.  

It may not be possible to change their stories or their outcomes, but for one magical day, the charity seeks to allow them to have a break from their routine and medical procedures, and hopefully give them fun memories that will last a lifetime.

I worked for Merlin Entertainments for over 20 years, and was  involved as a trustee of the Merlin Magic Wand during its first ten years.  I have always looked for ways to support the charity whenever possible, but never set myself a personal challenge to raise money.  This cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats covers 1,018 miles, involves climbing over 68,000 feet and will require spending 15 consecutive days sitting on a razor sharp saddle !

If that’s not worth a few quid in support of such a worthy cause then nothing is !
