We fund two clinics in Bhopal to help the survivors of the 1984 Disaster

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you will know, I haven't done much running since the 2010 Stockholm Marathon broke me a bit. However, I have had my arm (and leg) twisted by my other half and some friends to run the Budapest Half Marathon in September. I figure a half marathon will only be half as bad as a marathon, so what could possibly go wrong?

As an incentive to make me do the training, I am running to raise money for the Bhopal Medical Appeal. Bhopal was affected by the world's worst industrial disaster in 1984. Sadly, the company responsible, Union Carbide, avoided cleaning up the disaster, and it was taken over by Dow Chemicals, who say it is not their responsibility to clean up the site. As a result, thousands of Indians who were directly affected never received adequate medical help, and many thousands more today drink toxic water as the ground remains polluted. The BMA provides care and assistance for some of the worst affected, so I'm sure you'll agree that this is a good cause.
