Story
Hi. I'm Joe.. I'm an injured serviceman Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please forward this to your friends and colleagues.
I have been in training for the PEDAL TO THE PRINCIPALITY (https://dmrcbenfund-cycling.org/) in August this year, A charity fundraising cycle ride from The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall to The Principality of Monaco but due to Covid this has been postponed till April 22.
So i am cycling the New Forest Tour 100 mile course on the 19 September to raise money for a charity that supports wounded and injured service people.
Having suffered a serious injury in May 2018, which left me in bed for 3 months with a fractured lower spine and pelvis which I am still rehabilitating from.
I was fortunate enough to spend 10 months rehabilitating at both Headley Court and new Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Stanford hall. Its been a long road back to fitness which has seen my arrive on a Zimmer frame and leave walking unaided. Without the support and encouragement of all the staff and fellow patients I would not be able to undertake this challenge.
The DMRC Benevolent Fund is run by DMRC to provide a direct conduit from public giving to support patients. It is managed by a serving Warrant Officer so all the money raised goes to wounded and injured service personnel and not to salaries for charity staff.
The money is used to support activities such as meals out, trips to major sporting events and adapted sports activities such a car racing. From first hand experience I can tell you how much relief this provided during the labour of long term injury recovery.
I would like give something back to the Fund so other service personnel can benefit from the support that I have received.
