Barnstaple Pilot Gig Club are fundraising so we can move into a new home on the Banks of the River Taw. While brainstorming ideas, some of the Men's A crew had the notion of rowing a marathon on an indoor rowing machine!

This idea has become a reality and we'll be getting on the machine on the 30th September and not getting off until we've rowed 42,195 metres! This date is also Barnstaple running marathon and we have teamed up with them to set up by the start line, so we can be inspired by the runners, and hopefully they will be inspired by us too.

I'm one of the instigators for this challenge and have been training very hard since the beginning of July.  I am hoping to post a time of under 3 hours. 

I love rowing for BPGC and the club really needs a new home, which will allow us to expand and get more people using the River Taw, not just in pilot gigs but also other local watersports groups.
