Story
In July 2016 Our wonderful Father, Grandfather Husband, brother, Uncle & father in law, Colin Robert Spiers was diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer. By the time it was discovered, the disease was already widespread and the fight we all had against it was very short lived. Colin was courageous, strong & we all faced his final days together as a family.
He was mostly cared for on ward 10 of Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. The care he received there was second to none. The staff of ward 10 were kind, careful, methodical, considerate and gave him respect, privacy and dignity and comfort throughout and allowed us to be by his side right until the very end of his life.
The cancer centre are desperately in need of equipment and facilities to help care for the numerous patients they admit every day like our Dad, so we would like to raise as much money for them as possible in his memory.
While he was in hospital our Dad said that if he was to get any quality of life back he would want to volunteer at the cancer centre and help others through their own journey with cancer.
Unfortunately, he wasn't lucky enough to get that quality of life back, but we, his friends, family and people who have been effected by this unrelenting disease can make a difference to those people who are lucky enough to have that chance. That is what he wanted- to help others.
There is no greater gift that any human being can give than their love, time and self and this is now our fathers legacy! Our father and husband welcomed everyone with open arms and gave himself as much as he could, whenever he could, so we now want to pass that kindness, through you, on to others faced with their own battles with cancer.
Thank you so much for reading this and for your support.
All our love.Xxxx
