Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In early August 2014 I will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime by spending a week climbing in the Alps culminating in an ascent of the Matterhorn, the most iconic mountain in the Swiss Alps.

I will be attempting this challenge in my late grandmothers memory by fundraising for the Alzheimer's society, who are leading the fight against dementia related illnesses through research, care and support for dementia sufferers.

The Matterhorn is located in the border between Switzerland and Italy, it is primarily a rock climb with some steep sections of snow and ice.

At 14,620 ft the route is a serious undertaking with considerable exposure and the round trip up and down takes about 10- 12 hours climbing.
In order to acclimatise to climbing at altitude I will be spending the previous week climbing various routes in the Mont Blanc range in the french Alps.

I have spent the last year planning and training for this challenge, however its difficulty is not to be underestimated.
