On Sunday 18th March 2018 we will be running the Dronfield 10k for Beat SCAD.

SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) is an under-diagnosed heart condition that can't currently be predicted or prevented.  It affects people with few or none of the normal risk factors for heart disease.

SCAD can be fatal, cause heart failure, cardiac arrest, require heart bypass surgery , stents or medical management.  SCAD occurs when a tear or bruise develops in one of the coronary arteries resulting in a blockage that prevents normal blood flow.  This can result in a heart attack.

SCAD affects mainly women and can occur during or soon after pregnancy.

Menopause, extreme stress and exercise and connective tissue disorders have also been associated with SCAD but as yet it is not known exactly what causes SCAD.

The money we raise will help go towards research into this condition.

Our thoughts are never far from the family and friends of Carole Johnson who sadly passed away from a SCAD on 23rd December 2016 at the age of 56.  Their dedication to raising money towards SCAD research is inspiring.  Please donate if you can, so that other people don't have to go through what they have.

Thanks
