Story
Angel is the most beautiful Staffordshire Bull Terrier, that has been in the care of the National Animal Welfare Trust's Somerset site, near Langport, since October 2014. She has recently been diagnosed with a Parathyroid tumour. These tumours produce excessive amounts of parathyroid hormone, which results in the calcium level in blood becoming abnormally elevated. This has profound effects on other body systems.
As this is an uncommon illness in dogs, Angel is to be referred to a veterinary hospital in the South West for her operation. The NAWT has been quoted a cost of approximately £4000 for the procedure and for Angels post op care.
Members of staff Claire Phillips, Sam Pratt, Sophie Male and Chloe Spiller are going to walk the Yorkshire 3 peaks on the 3rd of March 2016. This challenge will see the staff members walk approximately 25 miles and over 5000 ft of ascent!
