Story
One of our family friends was diagnosed with ovarian cancer more than ten years ago; she's now been told that the cancer has spread to the brain. I'm fundraising to raise awareness of this type of cancer and as a small gesture of support for her and for women everywhere who've received this diagnosis.
Women in the UK have a 1 in 50 chance of developing ovarian cancer and it's incredibly difficult to diagnose. My great aunt as well as my mum's "second mum" suffered from ovarian cancer; none of these women had children and in fact the risk is higher for women who don't have children or who have them after 30.
March happens to be Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month so what better time to talk about it.
Symptoms to watch out for include: persistent stomach pain, persistent bloating, finding it difficult to eat or feeling full quickly, and needing to wee more often.
Thanks in advance for your support!
