Story
Anna and Tony are running the Sheffield Half Marathon together again this year and we are inviting our friends to sponsor an organisation Tony volunteers for: Assist Sheffield. You can find out more about their work on their website (http://www.assistsheffield.org.uk/) but briefly they support refused asylum seekers who have had their final appeal rejected but who are not deported for any of a number of reasons. They are then left destitute: unable to work or claim any benefits. Tony works as a volunteer in the night shelter two nights a month, sleeping in a church hall with anywhere up to a dozen people who have nowhere else to go and helping to oversee this arrangement. As usual when asking for sponsorship we want to say that we will run whether or not anyone makes a donation to the charity but knowing from the past that some of you will give makes a great day even better.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
