In memory of Janet Batten
We provide expert care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

On Saturday 6th August 2016 Anne Bell, Lucy Lees, Jane Harris and Sarah Gange completed a Tandem Skydive.   At the same time we were proud to raise funds for The Countess Mountbatten Hospice in loving memory of Janet Batten. We paid for our jump ourselves so that every penny we raised went to Countess Mountbatten.

Janet lost her life on August 15th 2015, only a few weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. In Janet's final days, the Countess Mountbatten Hospice took such wonderful care of Janet and her family. The attention, respect and quality of care she received was exceptional and this helped family and friends cope at such an awful time. Countess Mountbatten made a world of difference for Janet and her family at a time when they needed care and support to ease her pain and suffering. Unfortunately, all the money in the world cannot bring Janet back to us but it can help others, who every day sadly discover they have to face this and who need the same care and support.

Countess Mountbatten Hospice is a special organisation in Hampshire, where people with life limiting illnesses in the hospice and local community are cared for by a team who deliver over and above to enhance the quality of life of patients and their families and carers, throughout illness and bereavement.

£10 pays for newspapers and magazines bought daily for the patients in the Inpatient Unit. £25 funds a one hour Complementary Therapy treatment such as Aromatherapy or Reflexology for a patient. £100 funds the books needed for one month to help bereaved children come to terms with the death of a relative. £500 ensures a volunteer transport service is funded for one week, enabling patients and their relatives to more easily access hospice services where needed.

Thank you so much for getting involved! Your encouragement and support meant so much to us, with the knowledge that each and every pledge is a tribute to our Janet, in loving memory.
